It's also one of the first drums I did with this matte\/speckled-gloss finish.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003c\/blockquote\u003e\n\u003chr\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e\u003cem\u003eWhat makes this a \"Prototype\" drum?\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cem\u003eThe DW Mini-Mag throw-off is slightly oversized for a 3.5\" deep shell. The drum plays and sounds great, but at very high tuning, the rims can just touch the edges of the throw-off.
