The wood is a beautiful book-matched Olivewood. This one took a few tests with the finish before I settled on a natural satin acrylic finish. I was also inspired by an SJC snare I saw with a wallpapered interior. I thought it was such a cool detail that I wanted to try my own version. I really like how it turned out, and I'll definitely use CVL shells again.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003c\/blockquote\u003e\n\u003chr\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e\u003cem\u003eWhat makes this a \"Prototype\" drum?\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cem\u003eThe only real \"flaw\" is in the drilling. This was before I developed my current template and jig system, so I was still laying out and drilling the lug holes by hand—and a few of them ended up a bit off.
